How your information is handled
This site collects only what you type into the enquiry form. There’s no tracking, no analytics and no advertising.
Who is responsible
Chris Thorn Design is a trading name of Christopher Thorn, a sole trader. I’m the data controller for this website.
You can contact me at privacy@christhorn.design, or by post at 18 Manor Lane, Ettington, Stratford-upon-Avon, CV37 7TE.
What I collect, and why
The enquiry form asks for:
- the subject of your enquiry
- your name
- your email address
- your message
I use this to reply to you, and to do the work if you go on to commission it. I do not use it for marketing, and I do not share it with anyone else for marketing.
The lawful basis is legitimate interests: I need your details to answer your enquiry. If you go on to agree work, the basis becomes performance of a contract.
The web server also records access logs, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting. These are kept for about a month.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies, and uses no analytics, advertising or social media tracking. Every page is served from this domain, apart from the spam check on the enquiry form. There’s no cookie banner because there’s nothing to consent to.
Spam protection
The enquiry form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that it is a person submitting it and not a script. The enquiry page loads a small script from Cloudflare, and Cloudflare receives your IP address and some technical information about your browser in order to make that check. It is not used to profile you, track you across other sites, or for advertising. Cloudflare acts as a processor for that check.
Where your information is stored
Enquiries are stored in this website’s database, on a server in London. A copy comes to me by email.
Two providers handle that email on my behalf:
- Brevo, which sends messages from the website
- Google Workspace, which hosts my mailbox
Google may process email outside the United Kingdom, under its standard data protection terms.
I delete enquiries after 12 months, unless they form part of a project record. Those I keep for as long as business and tax rules require.
Your rights
You can ask me to:
- tell you what personal information I hold about you
- correct it
- delete it
- restrict how it is used
- stop using it altogether
Email privacy@christhorn.design. I’ll answer within one month, and there’s no charge.
If you’re unhappy with how your information has been handled, tell me and I’ll put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
